About

Me

I live in Maumee, Ohio. I’m married with a daughter, two dogs and a cat.

I always wanted to be a professional photographer but that didn’t pan out (parents said business school!) so there is no better than time now to become the best photographer (amateur or otherwise) that I can be!

When I was a lot younger I knew I wanted to be a photographer because I noticed how powerful some photos can be.  I won’t even go into all the the photos printed in Life magazine or made by noted photographers throughout history that have inspired and influenced me (at least not right now).

I heard about 365 projects from a friend who started one for 2009.  The idea of having to take a photo a day (or at least try) was very appealing to me, as both a way to practice and learn how to take good photos and also as a way to hang on to memories. I have notice that no matter how mundane the picture or when I took it, the memory sticks with me when I’ve had the fun of taking a picture associated with the event.

I now take pictures most days and sometimes its a challenge to come up with something different!  My old standbys are my workplace, the park and the dogs…my husband got me a Canon Powershot A1000 IS for my birthday this year (a pink one!) and I love it but I also aspire to own a Nikon D90 someday.

Oh totally! Sometimes the inspiration goes or I have a few days where I dislike every picture I take, but the experimentation and endless potential are what keep me snapping away, plus this hobby has been a real bright spot for those times when other things in life are a drag. I’m trying not to fall into that rut of thinking I won’t be able to take truly good pictures until I get an expensive camera – for now I’m just going to continue to try and wring everything I can out of the one I’ve got. Thanks for the encouragement, hope you’ll keep stopping by, even when the output is less than ideal :) !

We all have good and bad days…I do agree with you that this hobby is all consuming and how passionate one can get with it..
you are so right about the fact that you don’t need an expensive camera to take “good” pictures..I believe when the time is right for you to look into a “better” camera because you feel that your creativity has exceeded what your present camera can
support..you will…until then keep up the wonderful work..thanks Chrisitine
