Wow. It has been more than a month since I posted here. I’m gonna fall WAY short of my 365 goal this year!
I took this picture of the new Art Tatum memorial outside the Lucas County Arena on my way home. Think the blue glow is neat. Turns out I lined it up just right next to the columns of the building behind it – and I didn’t even plan it that way.
It’s been just about a year since I started trying to take pictures every day. I fell of the wagon for a bit, and I still often let other things get in the way of working with the camera. I’ll keep trying, though. Thanks to everyone who visits and posts suggestions and comments. For 2010 I plan to continue this experiment!

A few months back when I posted the picture of the peach and made reference to song Peaches by The Presidents of the United States of America I had no idea that they would end up coming to my town – or that I would get to go see them in concert and that they would be MAGNIFICENT.
Saw them last night at the Smoke on the Water rib-off festival extravaganza. Very high energy show – my amateur camera could not do justice to all the jumping, running and overall kicking out of the jams that took place on stage. Very fun time – after the show my daughter got to shake hands with the guy on the right and she now says he’s her favorite. It was hard to pick the best picture of the few that came out decently, to see the rest check ‘em out on my Flickr page.

Slowly getting back into taking pictures after a week or so off…the storm was passing to the north of downtown so I watched it come across from the 8th floor so I could take a few pictures of the clouds creeping in. Didn’t get any rain until later when another storm hit Maumee.
Since all my pictures lately have been kinda sucky, I am taking some time to learn more about lighting by reading Strobist, the blog all about lighting set ups for photography. I don’t have all that gear, but maybe I can pick up some of the concepts and rig a substitution until the Nikon fairy visits me with a D90 and some umbrella lights, or whatever.

I’ve been waiting to get a picture of the hot dog cart guy – now I know that good weather is here to stay for a while! I walk by there a few times a day and it smells so good. It would have been better to get closer for the picture but then I’m always afraid someone will say “What the hell are you doing taking pictures??” And this is why I’m an amateur.

This is the sign that is painted on the side of the Pythian Castle (two posts below) in downtown Toledo. The building has been abandoned for a long time.
I don’t understand what this is supposed to be…it looks like a disturbing robot skeleton-thing in a suit that’s too big…

Ahh…good weather days return to the area! Today was the first day that the patio on the 8th floor of our building was unlocked, so I was looking for interesting views from all angles…

I know my camera is not sophisticated enough to do good High Dynamic Range photos, so all of today’s pics look a little off because it was another one of those goofy weather days where it is both really sunny and really cloudy. This was my first time near the ball park since last year and the sagging clouds over the field looked super fantastic, though I never could capture it the way it looked “in real life.” I set the camera every which way and the photos all looked either too dark and shadowy or the colors were off.
Still….those clouds are COOL!

Every year on professional assistant’s day our whole office gets treated to lunch by management (yea, management !!) Today we went to Tony Packo’s, though this location is called Packo’s by the Park, as it is right across from Fifth Third Field.
I walked back from lunch so I could take some pictures, naturally! I love the worn, pained signs that are on the sides of the old warehouse buildings, and with this picture I got two in the shot.
