fall color

Fall color, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

Out at Sidecut on Sunday for a 4 mile hike extravaganza…not sure what these plants were…red leaves on tall stems with light green undergrowth and the light filtering through…love the colors!

british racing green

Picture 984, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

Took this in June, and it wasn’t even the best picture I took that day. I just ordered nail polish that will match this (Butter London British Racing Green), so to commemorate the fact that I’m following a fall nail polish trend (and to cement my well-deserved reputation as an utter dork), I submit this photo.

at the park

At Fort Miami, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

Didn’t get a chance to go out and take anything today, so here is another picture from yesterday’s trip to Fort Miami. Daughter had come along for the ride and was relaxing on one of the hills.

mystery marker

Mystery Marker, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

If you enter Side Cut Park in Maumee (on the side that still has the canal locks) and take the trail that goes out to the Fallen Timbers monument, it takes you in and out of the woods and through a meadow. The trail bypasses a local cemetery by winding around it from behind.

We were walking the trail last night (as we have done many times before) and this marker is tucked in the trees at the top of a small hill along the trail. It looks interestingly out of place there, though I know it is part of the cemetery, (probably an old boundary marker or fence post for the property). We did find another one when we accidentally walked up the cemetery’s service drive looking for an alternate way to join the trail. I just always wonder exactly what they were for and how long they’ve been there.

Tulips, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

I took this a while ago, but recently submitted it to JPG magazine, where it has gotten some activity. If ya love the pink like I do (and even if you don’t!) I hope you will consider voting for me here.

I took this on a freezing cold day in early February out in the snow because the light was good coming through the clouds…if you look very closely you can see a little snowflake clinging to the center tulip’s right petal (on the upper right part of the petal.)

stair railing

Stair Railing, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

Today sucked so awesomely that I decided to just go home and put my jammies on and go to bed, so no picture taking today…plus the weather was gray and rainy. So, here’s another picture that I took yesterday near the Commodore Perry monument in Perrysburg. To get down close to the river we had to go down some insanely steep steps, and this was taken at the bottom. There were decorative spheres on the railing at intervals, and this is a picture of one of them with the park in the background.

Nothing special today…I had the camera with me when we went to the store last night and the display was all prettied up…

needles

Needles, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

The light shines through these and lights them up – today was cloudy so they’re not as dazzling as they could have been – on a sunny day I could have rendered you blind with their spectacular rainbowy snazz-tacity.

If I can find anything in the colorful, rainbow version – that is what I will choose every time. When I started knitting I was looking for some needles and while I prefer the bamboo ones, I saw these and that was it. I got these instead.

silk yarn

May 8, 2009 · 2 Comments

Yarn, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

Leftover yarn from a knitting project I did three years ago. The colors are terrific but the stuff sheds. I do more knitting in the spring and summer when I can sit outside with the dogs and work on things.

My photography inspiration level has been at about 50% for the last few days, so taking a close up of something so colorful was an easy way out…I’m looking for ideas for a photo project that will get my creativity going…any ideas?? I need ‘em!

moonrise

Daytime Moon, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

Well its been so busy at home and work that I haven’t had a chance to do much with the camera in the last few days, so I’m going to the vault for some recent pictures that I haven’t posted yet.

This was taken about a month ago…I really like the colors here…I do find it interesting that the moon never looks as big when you look at it through the camera.
