This is the battlefield I was talking about earlier…I would love to get out there and explore (and yes, I know you’re not allowed to take anything), I hear there are lots of musket balls, arrowheads and other artifacts from the battle. I liked this just because of how great the day looked with blue sunny sky and green fields…so give it up for the beautiful day!

Now, if you are facing this field and you do a complete 180 degree turn, you are then looking at the big new mall – a very different view!!

share the road

Another glorious day in the paradise on Earth that is Maumee. We walked from the Fallen Timbers monument to the actual battlefield, which I have never realized the location of. There’s a big sign there marking the spot and staying to stay out. It is an empty field surrounded by houses on either side at a little distance. It is an archaeological site and I guess they find artifacts there sometimes and that’s why you can’t step out onto the field. The battle occurred between the Native Americans and the settlers about 215 years ago.

I have been horrible about not posting pictures lately, partly because there is so much going on at home and partly because I don’t feel like I’m getting any better at this yet. But as the Foo Fighters sang, “What if I said I would NEVER surrender?” Yeah!

bowling green windmills

May 21, 2009 · 6 Comments

I didn’t get any good pictures tonight, so I’m going to the vault to post something I took back in early April. Northwest Ohio finally got some windmills a few years ago and they are in the perfect location – Bowling Green, Ohio – which is like a wind tunnel compared to the surrounding areas. There are four windmills total, two facing one way, two facing the opposite way. They are situated within the city landfill. They have an observation area, but I didn’t realize that when I drove up into this farm field to jump out and take this. They never look as impressive on film as they do “in real life” so I was glad there was a barn in the shot for perspective. Not the most spectacular picture in the world, but I do like the colors of the barn, sky and grass and the memory of what a nice day it was that day!

summer comes to the square

Hot Dog Stand, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

I’ve been waiting to get a picture of the hot dog cart guy – now I know that good weather is here to stay for a while! I walk by there a few times a day and it smells so good. It would have been better to get closer for the picture but then I’m always afraid someone will say “What the hell are you doing taking pictures??” And this is why I’m an amateur.

Daytime Moon, originally uploaded by Christine Bailey.

Well its been so busy at home and work that I haven’t had a chance to do much with the camera in the last few days, so I’m going to the vault for some recent pictures that I haven’t posted yet.

This was taken about a month ago…I really like the colors here…I do find it interesting that the moon never looks as big when you look at it through the camera.

i pledge allegiance to pink

May 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Laundry day at our house. I took 30 some pictures of this from all different angles before I decided that I liked this one best…in the rest I was getting in too close or trying to keep the garage or neighbor’s place out of the picture, but then I realized that it was a much better version of the picture if the clothesline had an “anchor”.

The sky wasn’t cooperating today.  It looks all overexposed and blown out, but since it is a cloudy sky day who cares?  Did you see all that pink?

more clothes pins

This picture would have been better if I hadn’t nipped off the end of the blue pin closest to the front…and next time I’ll have to try it with actual linens on the line!

Good thing the weekend is here…I need an inspiration recharge – STAT! This photo opportunity occurred during the only five minutes of sun that I think we’ve had all week. Hoping the weekend is nicer weather so I can venture out and find some other cool things to take pictures of…I know there are still some varieties of flower out there that I haven’t taken an extreme close up of yet!

Thanks to everyone who has been stopping by to visit and share their comments!

Ahh…good weather days return to the area! Today was the first day that the patio on the 8th floor of our building was unlocked, so I was looking for interesting views from all angles…
